Jimmy Baldea has been a first responder since 1993. He became an NYS EMT in 1995. He served on an ambulance at Ground Zero NYC during the September 11, 2001 tragedy. He founded a niche bio-tech firm shortly thereafter. He partnered with Howard A. Rusk, Jr., of the Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine at New York University, then spearheaded a bio-feedback physical health initiative with the NYPD Sergeants in 2014. He developed a vital signs monitoring and research program for the LAPD labor union in 2016. He was hired by the Rutland County Sheriffs, VT, and graduated the VT Police Academy in 2020. He continued his police health research while serving as a law enforcement officer for 2 agencies in VT. He was a sub-contractor to the NYC COVID-19 Mobile Vaccine Program, where he field-supervised 800 clinicians, during the pandemic. He simultaneously performed 911 EMS in NYC.
His police wellness program won the 2022 National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund Destination Zero Award, in the category of Comprehensive Wellness. He was inducted into the U.S. DOJ NIJ Leads Scholars Program in 2022. He also became a U.S. DOJ BJA SAFLEO police suicide-prevention trainer, that same year. He became a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Police Health for the U.S. DOJ COPS Office CRI-TAC Program in 2024, recognized by the IACP. He became an NYC Deputy Sheriff in 2025, and is in the process of introducing a police divorce prevention component to his wellness program. He also serves as an FOP National Trustee and National Board Member, is the Board Secretary of the VT FOP Lodge 2, serves an an NYC 1199 Union Delegate, and is an Inaugural Law Enforcement Advisory Board Member of the National Counterterrorism Innovation, Technology, and Education Center Department of Homeland Security Center of Excellence.
