Cyanokits for WFD
These are not new, but new to WICHITA. The WFD recently purchased a tested medication for smoke victims. This injectable shot could be administered to a firefighter or to a community member. This medication is referred to as Cyanokits and has a documented success rate for someone who is overcome after smoke inhalation. Cyanokits works by removing cyanide gas from the blood system of the patient. WFD has made an initial purchase and currently has a small supply. The sustainability and replenishment of these kits need to have provisional funds available when the need arises. Every Battalion Chief vehicle currently has a Cyanokit contained as when a call is issued, the Wichita Fire Department always proceeds with the understanding and the presumption that someone is at risk at every fire.
