Dr. Michael Birzer

Director of the Undergraduate Research & Creative Activity Hub at Wichita State University

Dr. Michael Birzer is a professor and the graduate coordinator in the School of Criminal Justice at Wichita State University. He also holds the position of Director of the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Hub, a unit within the Dorothy and Bill Cohen Honors College. Dr. Birzer's research focuses on police policy, behavior, and operations, as well as the intersection of race and policing. Before transitioning to academia, he had a career in law enforcement, retiring with the rank of lieutenant.
